“ VOICE FOR KINDNESS”

   “ VOICE FOR KINDNESS”
“Are we doing enough for the poor and the homeless people?”

All over the world, our circumstances look the same. The whole world is suffering from COVID-19 which emerged from Wuhan City, China. World Health Organization (WHO) also confirmed COVID-19 as a global pandemic very recently. Medical officials and scientists are actively researching and trying to find the cure for COVID-19. The countries that have suffered the most from COVID-19 are the U.S.A, China, Italy, South Korea, Germany, and Iran. The global death count from this virus is around the region of 28,400  approx.

The whole world is in a state of curfew, with every house, administration, road, and street under lockdown.

My question is: Is the Government and we the Public doing enough for homeless people?

We know that,  the government is trying their level best to control the disease and raise awareness among the general public. We also, grateful for the government, medical management, administration authority including their coworker because they are doing lots of possible things for us to live a healthy and better life. The #stayhome and #staysafe movements are working their way through the internet effectively, especially on social media.

However, a portion of the public that is not affected by this #stayhome and #staysafe movements are the homeless eg. Beggars, rag-pickers, etc. They probably have none-to-little awareness about the disease, let alone taking precautions like social distancing to cure the spread of the virus.

Homeless people generally are not able to provide for their families with daily meals and they rely on daily earnings for at least two meals a day. As of now, the lockdown has cost many jobs, affecting the lowest a segment of the society the most, the homeless who depend on daily earnings and they are not getting enough food or even a decent place to stay during the night or the daytime.

We know that the authorities are doing well in providing ration and funds to poor people, as well as tax exemptions and other facilities but most of the people dwelling in poverty cannot claim those facilities because they lack proper documents; which is not too hard to imagine, provided they, unfortunately, don’t even have roofs over their heads. Even though, they always dream and try to build a new aspiration daily for themselves. They don't know that "they will get a proper meal or not in a single day"? The panic stage of the world giving them, a hard challenge to survive.

The homeless are also, the same citizens of the world as much as we are. The authorities should look more upon this segment of the society if they actually want to stop the spread of this pandemic any further eg. By providing them with basic necessities like food products, clothing, and shelter.
In this democratic world of the present, it is easier to make our voices heard and we know that it will be converted into fruitful movements from the government through measured steps for the welfare of homeless people and in turn, the general public as a whole.

The government should allocate finances separately for the poor and the homeless, to help them make ends meet and effectively fight this common battle against the life-threatening disease. We, the public can also contribute funds through online donation portals to help these people have a home, good food, and a better life.

Everyone who is fighting against this pandemic should make our voices audible to senior officials as well as people who, we care about. Let's start a new journey towards our society by helping homeless people and avoiding racism. so that, we can hope to able to live in a better society and disease-free world. Take, Call for action.......
